REFUND POLICY

1) An Application for Refund form must be submitted for all refunds. Refund requests must be submitted 10 days prior to the first class meeting date.

2) All refund requests will be assessed a service charge of $3 or 10% whichever is less with a minimum charge of $1. A prorated withdraw refund will be made for participants who decide, for whatever personal reason (including illness or injury), that an ongoing program is not right for them. The prorated refund will be based on the number of classes that have occurred at the time the refund request form is received by the Park District.

3) The Refund Policy does not apply to: “nonrefundable” trip tickets, unless the Park District is able to resell tickets; Preschool Program deposits, unless the class space can be filled prior to the start of the program; contracted classes, unless a replacement can be found. Refunds will not be granted for Fitness Memberships for any reason, after one month from the start date. Pool passes are non-refundable. No refunds or makeup classes will be granted for unattended classes. Geneva Park District has the right to review and make the final decisions on all refunds.

Resident Registration

Residents should mail-in, drop-off, or fax-in registration forms anytime after receipt of the brochure. Residents are not required to hold their registration forms until the processing date. Forms will be processed randomly instead of in the order they are received. All Registration Forms received through the Monday prior to registration day by 9:30 pm will be held and processed at random beginning Registration Tuesday, at 8:30 am. Registrations received on Registration Tuesday or after that date will be processed on a daily basis.

Non-Resident Registration

Non-residents may mail-in, fax, drop-off a registration form, or register online on a designated non-resident registration date. Forms dropped off early will processed randomly on non-resident registration day.

Age Requirements

When age limitations exist, proof of age (such as a birth certificate) may be required. Participants must be the minimum age required for the program by the first day of the program unless otherwise stated. To insure a quality program for program participants, children are not allowed in adult programs and vice-versa. Siblings of children not registered for a program are not allowed to attend without expressed permission by the instructor. Adults may observe children’s programs at the discretion of the instructor.

Behavior Policy

In order to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, a strict discipline policy has been adopted for all Geneva Park District programs. The following policies are designed to preserve a healthy program experience for all concerned. The following infractions will constitute utilization of the discipline system that follows under Discipline Procedures.

  1. Harming oneself such as, but not limited to:
    1. Leaving grounds without permission
    2. Leaving designated group without permission
    3. Climbing on objects that are not recommended by staff
    4. Physical damage to self
    5. Possession, use or transfer of alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco or tobacco products
    1. Fighting
    2. Throwing objects at or near others
    3. Bringing or using weapons, i.e. knives, glass, sharp objects, etc.
    4. Hitting, kicking or biting others
    5. Extreme verbal abuse
    6. Profanity
    7. Showing disrespect to other participants and staff
    8. Other aggressive behavior
    1. Vandalism
    2. Tantrums resulting in damage to property
    3. Breaking, damaging or destroying property
    1. Taking any item that does not belong to the child

    Discipline Procedures

Please keep in mind, two verbal warnings will be given before becoming a first offense.

1st Offense: A warning letter will be sent home to a parent or guardian, or the participant if he or she is an adult, to be signed and returned. The parent/participant will also be called by the Program Instructor and/or Recreation Supervisor.

2nd Offense: Suspension — the participant will be suspended for three days following the offense. The parent/participant will be notified via the phone or upon parental pick-up and a written explanation will be sent home by the Recreation Supervisor.

In cases when a program only meets for one day, participants will be given two verbal warnings. If the behavior is not corrected after two warnings, the participant will be removed from the class. Depending on the situation and the degree of the offense, the participant may be permanently dismissed from the program following the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd offense. There will be no refunds for days missed due to disciplinary infractions.

NOTE: Parents of program participants are responsible for ANY damages caused by their child.

    Non-Sufficient Funds

There will be a $25 charge per check or checking account that is returned with non-sufficient funds.

    Payment/Pro-Rating

Participants will not be registered for programs without payment. Program fees will not be pro-rated for late enrollment.

    Photo/Video Disclaimer

All participants permit the taking of photos and/or videos of themselves and their children at Park District activities, programs, events, and facilities for publication and use as the Park District deems necessary in all marketing materials and social media avenues. If you and/or your child do not wish to be photographed or videotaped, a written objection must be filed with the Park District.

    Program Cancellation Information

Program supervisors begin reviewing class enrollment and canceling classes that do not meet minimum enrollment approximately ONE WEEK prior to the class start date. It is extremely important that you try to register for class choices no later that one week before they begin. All participants registered in cancelled programs will be notified by the Geneva Park District staff and will receive a full refund.

    Program Limitations

Each program at the Geneva Park District has an established minimum and maximum number of possible registrants. These numbers are set to guarantee the highest quality program we can offer. The facility, student/teacher ratio and the nature of the program are considered when setting program registration minimums and maximums. Programs that do not meet the minimum number of registrants may be cancelled. Please refer to the Program Cancellation section for more information. Program instructors are not allowed to accept any registrant beyond the established maximum without authorization by their immediate recreation supervisor.

    Receipts

We send registration confirmations via email! Please ensure that we have your current email address on file. Your email receipt will act as the only form of confirmation for your registration. If we encounter a problem with your registration, you will receive a phone call.

    Residency

Residency of the Geneva Park District is defined by financial contributions through property taxes for the operation of the park district. Boundaries of the Geneva Park District and the City of Geneva are not exactly the same. If you are uncertain whether you qualify as a Geneva Park District resident, please check your current property tax bill. Proof of residency in the form of a current tax bill or utility bill may be required during program registration. Geneva Park District residents are given first priority for program registration.

    Scholarship Programs

The Park District offers scholarships for those who qualify for financial assistance. Applicants who qualify for financial assistance may receive partial or full program scholarships for Geneva Park District programs. Those who apply will be required to complete an application listing current finances. In addition, dance scholarships in memory of Joseph Greenberg’s lifelong passion towards dance assist with dance program registrations, including recital costume fees and apparel ordered through Geneva Park District’s Sunset Dance Academy. For information on scholarship programs, please contact 630-232-4542 or click the Scholarship tab at the top of this page.

    Senior Discount

Geneva Park District resident seniors, ages 60 years and older, may request a 20% discount on all Geneva Park District programs with the exception of contractual programs, co-op programs, trips, and programs specifically planned for seniors. Discount does not apply to fitness memberships or pool passes, or at Stone Creek Miniature Golf, Mill Creek Pool, or Sunset Pool. Other restrictions may apply. Proof of residency is required.

    Special Accommodations/ADA Compliance

The Geneva Park District encourages participation by everyone and intends to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you or a family member has special needs and would like to participate in a program, the Park District will make reasonable accommodations and/or modifications.

Geneva Park District works collaboratively with the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association (FVSRA) to provide reasonable modifications for individuals with disabilities who need assistance to participate successfully in programs. Please list the names of participants requesting inclusion services on your registration form and contact 630-232-4542 or email inclusion@genevaparks.com. To provide the best customer service, we ask for at least two weeks’ notice prior to the start of the program.

    Waiting List

Since all of our programs have registration limits, we cannot guarantee your choice of enrollment. The Geneva Park District maintains waiting lists for programs that have reached their maximum registration. Placement on a waiting list is encouraged. Individuals placed on a waiting list will be contacted if any additional program space becomes available.

    Waiver Form

The Park District is unable to assume responsibility for injuries or accidents occurring programs, activities, parks, and facilities. Such insurance would make program user fees prohibitive. The Insurance Liability Waiver section of the registration form must be signed when registering yourself or your minor child to participate in Geneva Park District programs. Participation will be denied if the signature of an adult participant or parent/guardian and date are not on this waiver.

    Weather Cancellation Policy/Rainout Line

Geneva Park District Weather Policy stipulates that all Geneva Park District programs will be cancelled if Geneva School District 304 cancels school for the FULL day. Partial school closures or late starts will result in the Geneva Park District making day-of determinations and contacting all participants in the event of any class cancellations. Major weather cancellations/closures of all Geneva Park District programs can be seen at emergencyclosingcenter.com, genevaparks.org’s Weather Corner, on the Geneva Park District Facebook page, and through the Rainout Line app. For field conditions, ice rink status, and more, please download the Rainout Line Mobile app or call the Rainout Line at 630-206-1174.
